Alpbach Technology Talks 2010
The Alpach Technology Talks took place from 26 to 28 August 2010 in the scope of the European Forum Alpbach. The motto was "Construction and Reality in Research and Technology".
The BMWFJ’s working group dealt with the topic "Excellent research through excellent management – the importance of leadership and management in cooperative research". It was headed by Karin Grasenick (Convelop), who had contributed significantly to the design of the future potential analysis that is part of the selection process for the Laura Bassi Centres of Expertise.
Subject for debate of the workshop:
The importance of leadership and management in cooperative research has rarely been actively taken into account until now. The special challenge lies in bringing together many different aspects: excellent scientific content in inter- and/or transdisciplinary teams, leadership and development of the staff, management of finances and structures as well as communication with partners, etc.
Are leadership and management central success factors in cooperative research? The workshop attempted to answer this question by analysing practical experiences from research with regard to selection and evaluation processes and by exploring implications for future requirements.
