Views from Work
We invite all female researchers worldwide to take part in our “views from work” campaign. Therefore, we ask for your help to encourage colleagues and partners to participate in this campaign. The aim of the campaign is to demonstrate the diversity of workplaces of women in technological/scientific research. Giving an insight into the various work situations and workplaces of researchers contributes to do away with outdated perceptions of “research work”.
It's really easy:
1. Take a photo (with a mobile phone camera, a digital camera, ...)
"This is my workplace!"
Snap-shots, self-portraits, a view from work... Show where you are working and present yourself as you like it: on the top floor of an office building, far below the ground, in the rainforest or in the innards of huge machines. How do your every day bureaucracy, your laboratory, your multifaceted team look like
2. Send the photo
Via e-mail: images(at)w-fforte.at or
Via mail: FFG, w-fFORTE, Sensengasse 1, 1090 Vienna, Austria
Note: Please don't forget to tell us your name, your organsiation/institution and your field of research. Additionally, you have the possibility to add a brief commentary in English to your picture.
3. Forward this invitation
Forward this invitation to female colleagues, in your team and worldwide, and to your project partners and friends - to all those who are active in research.
We will publish your photo with name, field of research and country on our website.
The w-fFORTE “views from work” campaign started in 2006. Furthermore, you can support the campaign by forwarding this appeal and thereby creating a perpetuum mobile. This helps to raise public awareness of the exciting activities of female scientists and also to get a better idea of their technology jobs which seem to outsiders sometimes boring and monotonous.
This appeal is also available as a PDF-download.
A first insight in the “views from work” has already been published as a booklet in 2009 but is no more available. Therefore a second and extended version has been published in 2010. You may order or download the new booklet.
We are looking forward to your "view from work"!
