w-fFORTE – competent women in business and technology

w-fFORTE contributes to establishing equal opportunities in scientific and technological worlds of work.

Activities:

  • "In focus: career" trainings for women in research and technology: Helping women to enhance their strategic career skills and providing an opportunity to ask experts individual questions. The focus is on topics such as strategy, team leadership and development, dealing with power, work-life balance and much more.
  • Leadership workshops for men & women in cooperative research: The management of research projects across different institutions, locations and disciplines is a particular challenge. Project managers not only face challenges with regard to their professional expertise, but also when it comes to issues such as team leadership, the management of cooperative projects, career development and diversity management. The w-fFORTE study "Teams in cooperative research" (2013) has shown how important it is for researchers to strengthen their leadership skills. The aim is for the participants to introduce this knowledge into their daily work and their organisation and to learn from each other. In order to foster a working culture in which women and men are able to develop equally, the workshops are open to women and men.
  • Studies, knowledge transfer & events: w-fFORTE commissions studies that shed light on the existing structures in research and technology and that identify requirements for change. Findings of the impetus programme are made available to other technology programmes and are anchored in the international research community.

w-fFORTE is a programme of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Science, Research and Economy (BMWFW) and is implemented in the scope of the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG).
