Long terms for in-depth research

  • Six “Laura Bassi Centres of Expertise” were originally planned. On account of the extremely high quality of the applications, a jury of international experts recommended the funding of eight Centres in 2009. The ministry acted on this recommendation and increased the funding budget to include two additional Centres.
  • At least one scientific partner and one industrial partner form a consortium.
  • Funded term: max. 7 years
  • Based on the interim evaluation in the fourth year of funding, a decision will be made regarding the continued funding for another 3 years.
  • Maximum amount of federal funding: around 320,000 euros per year per Centre. A total of 15 million euros is available.
  • Federal funding: max. 60 percent
  • Share of industrial partner(s): min. 35 percent
  • Share of research partner(s): min. 5 percent
